In regards to Diana's published book "Flight to the universe"
I have met Diana Yampolsky and have known her now for a few years. I've participated in her workshops, have read her book and am due for a 10 hour private session with her in a week from now. I want to start by saying that her book is a push towards the ideologies of a true master in the craft of speaking, singing and voice repair. No matter who you are, what state your voice is in or what you've come to know until now about vocal training, this woman can instil into you her breath of ingeniously fresh air! She's bravely come forward, challenging the canons of every vocal training "bible" ever made. Her technique is simply one of a kind and entirely her own, making her one of the most prominently capable vocal coaches of our time if not the single most forward and revolutionary thinking one that's even alive today!
Is reading this book today going to turn you into Whitney Houston? Probably not.
But it will open your eyes and answer many great questions you may have, all while conveying a theory and target within the world of singing, which like her technique; sits above and beyond the expected realms of possibility, leaving the worldly and reaching the otherworldly bounds of the universe she speaks of.
What I wish for all those who buy this book, is to approach with an open mind and if by any means you are willing and able to turn that into something more by actually working with her, do this with all your might because you will have done a favor to your metaphysical state, the future health of your voice and your chances of achieving something great in the field of vocal potency!
This review might sound like I'm just in love with her, but when you see someone take others from speech/vocal cord issues that rendered them nearly jobless and broken, to witnessing those with healthy cords excel and propel towards a tangible singing career, you too would have countless great things to say. She's even recommended a line of herbal products to me which have freed me from phlegm which my doctors couldn't.
So with thanks to a master, I hope I get as much Diana in my life as I possibly can and this book was my first brush with the stroke of her genius!
I have attended my now second workshop with Diana which was intimately and pleasantly hosted in a warm, friendly and fun atmosphere both times.
We explored her methods and strategy in a group setting which I find very revealing and enlightening because not only do I receive the direction from her, but also get to see and hear others hit and/or miss the technique on their turn. This has made me develop a keen ear which now listens very differently to people, scanning where the vocal emphasis of their tone is emitting from.
After a couple hours of this, I could almost always know, synonymous to Diana herself, with respect to whether the person achieved the vocal direction and delivery which she is talking about or not. Her capabilities in helping you re-execute the delivery methods of your sound are something you can truly and tangibly feel during these sessions.
This is what's propelled me towards wanting private sessions as well, because once you've sat in the group, you can theoretically and briefly even physically understand and achieve what she's teaching. And now that I've had the chance to both explore these methods and observe others in exercising them, I look forward to one-on-one time where the focus can be on my training, as we will cut out (however interesting but also limiting) time and conversations with other students being there.
What I also love about Diana is that she always gives herself so generously to us because even if at times the sessions ran longer, she carried on until we all had a chance to touch upon her teachings and showcase our primary abilities of application as we learn alongside one another.
It was wonderful to see everyone who's come for different reasons; from speech repair needs to singing improvement, is walking away knowing they've come across something truly special and hearing the optimism in their voices knowing they have high hopes for the future of their vocal cords!
Surprisingly effective vocal instructions. Actually, would go as far to say that, by far, it's the best place to go if you need singing lessons, speech lessons. Heck, even if you need to fix your voice. Giving it a 5, and will come again.
Diana is a magnificent vocal coach! A master of her craft! Not only does she work on the voice but she gets into your psyche boosting self-confidence and self-esteem.
As an actor the training improved my vocal projection on stage.
