The visitors center is nice. I appreciate the historical information available here, which includes info about English Camp. I recommend visiting American Camp before seeing English Camp. There's good info for English Camp that you find at the American Camp visitors center that is not available at English Camp because of the lack of a visitors center. Also, English camp is much nicer and has more to see than does American Camp.

Visited American Camp Historical Park Nov. 2nd, 2018. Bright sun, strong winds, and crashing waves! Wonderful!

Beautiful place for some light hiking and it stays open quite late too! The buildings and trails are well-maintained, and the information displays are really interesting.

The visitor center and introductory video are basically the same as English Camp, so if you've seen that, no need to watch it again, but it's well worth visiting American Camp. We got to see a nesting pair of Bald Eagles too!

Also, if hike out towards the south a bit, on a clear day you have a really beautiful view of the Olympic Range across the Strait of Juan de Fuca and of Mount Baker to the east.

Nice small National Park. The visitor's center is clean and very informative. The rangers are not overwhelmed with people so they are very willing to chat and answer questions. Be sure to visit English Camp National Park at the other end of the island as well.
