Location: About 25-30 minutes away from Tadoussac. You need a car to get there.

The goods: These guys offer a variety of whale watching excursions - we went with an 8-person zodiac tour. We arrived 45 minutes early so that we could be outfitted with our waterproof gear, and once everyone was suited up, we were taken down to the embarkment via bus. Our captain was Yvon and he was great - he took a few minutes to explain the basic rules of "etiquette" and then took us to to look for whales. Boy, were we in for a treat! We were lucky enough to see plenty of whales, including moms with their calves, and as (more) luck would have it, they were all feeling quite playful because not only did we see whales breach and flip, but we also saw the inside of one's mouth (which we're told is a rarity!). Obviously, the captain has no control over whether or not you see whales. so what you'll see will vary.

We greatly enjoyed our experience and I would recommend this company. My only other comment would be to make sure that everyone gets to see the whales, i.e. move the boat so that that all sides can view them and take photos.

Price point: I think we paid around $65 per person but the price will vary by season.

We booked ahead online just in case it would be full when we got there. Good thing we did because many people showed up and all of which appeared to have previously reserved.
The staff were all nice and welcoming, from the receptionist to the bus driver and your boat operators. We saw a bunch of whales and were really happy about that. It was our best whale watching experience.
Please not that during windy days the ride is quite rough. For anyone with back problems, we dont really recommend this type of boat tour.

We were so happy with our experience with Les ecumeurs. It was a foggy day but Simon the captain spent an extra 45 minutes out on the water with us to make sure we could see whales, despite the challenging visibility. It is clear they really care about the whales and about giving passengers a unique, intimate experience on a very special body of water. The next day we hopped on a last-minute zodiac tour from Tadoussac with another (big) company, and though we enjoyed cloudless skies and great visibility, we realized how lucky we had been to get the experience with les ecumeurs (this other company were squeezing 60 of us on board a zodiac which meant not everyone could see the whales at any given time, the loudspeaker didn't work on our part of the boat, and they spent the last 15 minutes of our tour telling us about the places in town we should go spend our money....). Even if you're staying in Tadoussac, I highly recommend driving the 25 minutes out of town for the smaller boat and less commercial feel. Thanks Simon and the personnel at les ecumeurs for the unforgettable experience!

We went from US to Les Escumins to see Blue Whales. And after much research we decided to go with this Zodiac company. And we had a wonderful experience. We saw a lot of Fin and Humpback Whales (but no Blue Whales). And we got very luck with 2 of the Humpback flying out of the water as well - a rare sight. Pierre was very fluent in English and translated things to us every once in a while. Zodiac is only 12 seats so there is truly no bad place on the zodiac. But make sure you have some warm clothes underneath and also carry a change in case you get wet.
