I thought staff were good but I think I only saw a doctor for a few minutes, if that, who grabbed my front and back and said if I didn't wince in pain I don't have broken ribs, didn't ask about my left shoulder and collarbone. The doctor didn't really talk to me but talked to the student doctor who had been examining me though no one xrayed my left shoulder and collar bone, which still hurts and lacks full movement 5 months later. I really wish a qualified doctor had talked directly to me and took the loss of my left arm mobility including the ability to lift my arm up, seriously. I don't know whether my experience is comparable to third world countries or it was just bare minimum to fit the billing code. This building was so big and impersonal it was hard to know where you actually were. According to my hospital bracelet I was actually in the Glen portion, with same address as the royal Victoria Hospital and l was mostly assessed by staff and high tech equipment and then by a student doctor who sounded more like my interrogator than an actual doctor. She seemed very condescending and continually returned me to point zero as if I had my first case of bronchitis, which wasn'teven why I was there. She seemed to talk to me in the negative, asked me if I knew how to apply for a family doctor instead of asking me how long I have been waiting for a family doctor. I have been waiting for almost 2 years. She told me having bronchitis was just like having a cold and asked if I ever had bronchitis before, instead of asking me the actual purpose of my hospital visit or if coughing was causing pain in my right rib, which I hurt in my fall along wth my left arm/shoulder/collar bone so I found it really hard to take off my jacket but right after the fall I couldn't move my arm and then of course when I coughed I couldn't cover my mouth with my left arm. And then my lip was cut and I banged my tooth really hard on the sidewalk. I also could hear them calling me the young girl, as if my being older was a joke to them. When I was admitted the staff had put an iv part in my arm they said just in case I needed to get hooked up to one. I think the IV part once in my arm made me stay put even though after being there from around 5 pm to around 9 pm, there were many times I felt like walking out. I had a really bad fall on Monkland where there was a lot of construction related gravel on top of uneven pavement right by a curb, no signage or anything to prevent an accident. The area is obvious since there patches of new pavement there. Before I left hospital I asked security guard for directions and he seemed to be refusing to speak to me in English, which may have partly been why I walked into a crime scene in the wrong end of the parking lot. And it wasn't even Friday the 13th.

staff is amazing. such a clean environment ! love the private rooms for patients . my Grandfather is being well cared for and on a speedy recovery . Researcher/ Nurse David Bo was exceptional in conducting a survey about the hospital while we were there and he made my Grandpa's day letting him chat about history .

Good experience. Got my appointment with a specialist 3 month after emailing the reference from my family doctor. Staff was nice and helpful, doctor was attentive. They take care of you well and you get your new appointments and exams fast, once you are in the “system” with your medical history; so typical for Canada. My only complain is about navigation in the hospital. The underground parking is a MAZE. You spend 20 minutes (out from your 30 charge free minutes) just trying to get on another level and then get stuck in the dead loop of “Exit->” signs.
