(June 5, 2020, 9:53 pm)I am a big fan of ordering healthy, home style cooking prepared meals; it is very convenient.
I tried La Boite du Chef first. It was ok, but the meal plan had too many dishes that I wasn’t interested in.
I then discovered Jean Bouffe, which offered a menu that was more suited to my household. After reading the reviews, I was really excited to get the first box.
What a disappointment! The food was bland, ingredients lower quality, and the cooking a bit off. I tried a second order, a bit larger, in hopes that I simply chose the wrong dishes in the first order. Unfortunately it was no better.
Most of the dishes were decent after adding something: salt , spices, cheeses, sauces. For example, the seafood lasagna was delicious after I loaded it up with extra cheese. I threw out the vegetable soup - it tasted like someone mowed the lawn and made soup from the clippings.
On a positive note, the delivery was spot on, and their sauces are fantastic. If I could order only sauces and forego main courses, I would do that. -
