Frères Servites De Marie

A testimony from Italy .... A memory, a prayer ... An action of thanks! We are unable to collect all the evidence concerning the heroically lived life, the existence and the consistency of a true reputation for holiness of many Brothers of the Order of the Servants of Mary who, since 1946, have lived their priestly ministry in various convents present in southern Italy. Even today, the memory of these Friars remains unchanged in the hearts of some members of the Order of Sant'Andrea di Caffa.

These unforgettable brothers and unknown saints can look like trees planted in the sea.

Have you ever seen trees planted in the middle of the sea?

The tree does not move, it is not a nomad, even less a marine being.

This crowd of Brothers was like trees planted in the convents of Palma Campania (Na) Saviano (Na) Naples, Benevento, Prata Sannita (Ce), Alvignano (Ce), Manduria (Ta), Taranto, Syracuse .. etc .. .. give shade and fruit to the Christians who were part of the parish community annexed to these convents.

These Brothers of Santa Maria embodied the teaching of the One and Undivided Church, their life was regulated by the Evangelical Dettams and the Constitutions of the Order.

Their life is a paradox!

Likewise, their faith was not measured, it was neither big nor small, neither tall nor thin!

BELIEVE AND NOT HAVE!

Neither mustard seed nor tree planted in the sea, the faith of these brothers has always been beyond human words, plans, projects, diagrams and simply cold calculations.

They could not measure faith when conviction was measured.

Their faith was a beginning of which only God was the creator.

This faith overturned what seemed immutable, like the order of things that wants trees to be planted on the land and not in the sea.

If we could write down all that these brothers had to endure and quantify how many tears they had to shed for love for the Most Holy Virgin Mary of Seven Sorrows.

About the useless servants, they themselves revealed to us the initiative of God.

The Faith has not made these Brethren revered, adored and acclaimed servants, servants with a contract that grants the status of executives, white collars, etc.

These brother servants of Mary at the service of the faith did not have a career!

None of them make claims to their faith, as requests for completed studies or earned degrees are made.

For these brothers of Saint Mary, faith was free.

“Useless servants!” And Servants of Mary for eternity!

Eternal rest gives them the Lord! Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine!
