Spruce Ridge Kennels

I purchased my dog Lily from Spruce Ridge 1 year ago. She is a coton de tulear and bichon frise mix. Lily is super affectionate, smart and great with other dogs and kids. She has a strong will and lots of energy (she just turned one so this could mainly be puppy energy) but her temperament is very sweet. She’s never aggressive or dominant. I wanted to share this so that people have an idea of what this breed is like since I had never heard of it before!

Honest review of the kennel... the kennel is on a farm, they stay in a heated building in pens with wood chips in them, naturally it’s smellier and not like a warm home. I feel like everything was to standard and appropriate but I was happy to take my girl out of there to give her a nice warm bed in a home. The first day I brought her home she had bloody diarrhea.. I had to bring her to the emergency vet right away and was not happy about this. I called Spruce Ridge and told her what had happened and she was very apologetic and after discussion she did pay for my vet bill. She also asked me to keep her updated on Lily’s situation. Lily is healthy and happy now and we presume it was potentially from her eating the wood chips, she did not have a parasite. I am giving five stars because she covered the vet bill and was accommodating. I would return to purchase another puppy based on my experience with this kennel.

We got our Cockachon puppy 6 months ago and right from day one he was the most healthy, loving, responsive and well adjusted dog. Both times we went to the kennel it was very clean and the lady answered all our questions. We would definitely go back to this kennel or recommend to a friend.

I had a positive experience from start to finish with Spruce Ridge Kennel and brought home a beautiful puppy who is very healthy, energetic, and adapting well to her new family.

I brought home my sweet furbaby just in time at the end of Feb. Right before the pandemic hit....Alma didn't seem welcoming until she knew I was serious about getting a pup and I put a deposit down...she also gave me a price on a pup but when I didnt get that pup she failed to tell me that the price of the pup i ended up getting was a couple hundred more. I also questioned the facilities which the many pups were in and I questioned the father of my pup being a pure bred Bichon given that he was completely brown haired.. Alma said it was because of the wood shavings he lived in (if a dogs hair changes colour to that extent again i question the living conditions). My pup had parasites from the time i brought her home (giardia) I tried calling Spruce Ridge to speak to them but could not get through. I had to treat her parasite issue for months but thankfully all is good now. I believe all breeders/kennels simply treat their pups as a commodity which is very unfortunate I wish I could've taken home the dozen of pups they had.
