  Joined the taichi class… i was extremely impressed. Usually in chinese taichi class u basically just follow the instructor. But sensei Richard divides it into parts and made it easy to understand and follow. My husband and i immediately joined membership after the free trial class. Looking forward to Sat class now :)

  Currently doing the TaiChi thing here. Sensei Verlaan is part teacher and part counselor.
  
  Going here has improved both my mental and physical health.

  Excellent, knowledgeable and great teachers in both Karate and Tai Chi.
  
  Extremely positive environment; brings out the best in everyone.
  
  Offers Karate, Self-Defence, jujitsu, MMA type training.
  
  Senior belts volunteer their time and are dedicated to help instruct and/or assist classes.
  
  Everyone is very focused on helping and developing the students to grow.
  
  -excellent class structure to bring out and advance each person in the class.
  -Great warm up that includes exercises that work on strengthening and increasing flexibility.
  -all are reminded to work the technique and work with their partner so no one gets hurt.
  -very positive environment for the kids ... kids are taught with compassion and enthusiasm ... all children from all of the schools in this area should be training here!!!
  -increase in stamina, endurance and conditioning developed as a result of the training
  - as a result of the training, the children develop self-confidence, self-awareness, self-defence and focus. (Children will learn to assertively and effectively handle bullies!)
  -environment where everyone is included and welcomed, very sharing environment and that of passing it forward.
  
  Sensei Verlaan’s style of teaching is simple to understand, easy to remember and hence very effective when apply during class to practice and in case you would ever need to defend yourself.
  
  The York Academy offers many courses in self growth and personal development in addition to the physical training.
  
  Karate training is an overall great workout AND offers many additional benefits during the training and for many years long after you have trained.
  
  By far one of the best Dojo’s in the city!!!
  
  I suggest everyone try training at this location for 1 month and see for themselves the difference the training makes in their lives.
