Thomson Memorial Park Dogs Off-Leash Area

This place is a really nice euge place very nice enjoy it you got to go there

One of the best dog parks in the GTA for the setup. Different fenced in areas are for large dogs, small dogs and a space for dogs that enjoy their quiet time. I've never seen a dog park so well planned out in this sense. I believe a lot of thought went into this place. The ground is mostly grassy with a bit of mud. Not full of pebbles which could cut their paws.

I still come here because I believe my dog enjoys it and I think it's good for him to be in the company of his fellows.

However, I gave it 3 stars only due to the people that come here. The code of conduct posted within the park does not get followed by all.

Dogs run around while the owners pay little attention to them and are socializing themselves.

I've seen dogs nip and bare teeth at other dogs while owners do nothing. I have had to leash my dog recently due to this. I ended up taking him to the quiet area of the park where he was alone and was not the one acting out of sorts.

People take larger dogs into the area for smaller dogs and my dog also contracted kennel cough here once. Oh and not everyone picks up after their pet even with trash cans close by!

However, socializing and off leash areas are good for pets. A dog park will always have some sort of issues as it is used by many different people and dogs. I believe the safety of all dogs should come first which is why my eyes are always on my dog. I follow him around and stay close as others that come here should do with their dogs.

I seldomly come to this park due to my own frustrations on the above issues.

One of the best dog park in town. Has 5 different area for different dogs. A huge area dogs can run.

The off-leash dog park is great. There are designed, fenced areas for all dogs, small dogs, and older dogs. A doggy water fountain is available in warm weather. The only negative is when owners come in and don't watch their dogs. This is a problem on weekends and holidays.

Amazing sized dog park with very large fields for the dogs to run, and ample shade from the trees. Large area for small dogs under 20 lbs as well. Every time I come, there are always dogs. Nice sitting areas (picnic benches, lawn chairs, gazebo) for dog owners. Water pump available for the dogs. No issues with cleanliness. Large parking lot southwest of the park; usually not an issue for parking except for some weekends during the summer when there are large community events in the park, and the park goers end up using the dog park lot. Sometimes there are groups of children climbing the fences along the north edge of the fence, pretty much screaming at the dogs (out of excitement, treating the park like a zoo) which is a little irritating and the dog owners universally find them annoying but what can you really do... just lead the dogs away from them. Otherwise a great park with great dogs and people.
