(September 23, 2021, 5:37 pm)Entire park is very scenic. Main lake is busy especially in main summer months. Heavily fished but lots of good spots.
Canoe routes are very rugged and peaceful (esp September). Portages on Lady Evelyn river are very steep and rocky. Be careful in the rain! Main nice campsites. -

(August 18, 2020, 10:33 pm)Paddled from Chance down the Evelyn River to Evelyn Lake and the surrounding areas, then paddled up into Banks and Makobe lakes. Lady Evelyn is well-maintained and the sites were super clean— each thunderbox seemed recently built. The scenery is fantastic and fellow travellers are relatively few (a positive, in my view). The portages can be rugged in spots but that adds to the fun.
The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because some of the portages in the burnt-out Makobe region have been abandoned (ie. the 450m North-South portage out of South Makobe). The park staff seems to do a great job, so I’m sure this region will be tackled in time. For now, the dead-end portages can really put a wrinkle in your timelines and require a little researching prior to setting out. -

(May 6, 2019, 2:42 pm)I love it out there but not having cell service and then getting stuck in suction type of MUD!!! Now I go out that way with my dad(he loves picking blueberries around this area) I get bad thoughts cause we got stuck and it was a weekend and nobody knew we were even back that far!!! It sucked huge when I could call someone or text!! The next day, late in the evening....a miracle happened....someone was coming into area where we were and we waved him to stop and he had to hook up chains to pull car out. All in all we did get home safely!! Its beautiful out that way but you have to weigh out your Pros and your Cons lol
