I decided to have my GP send Dr. Cote a referral despite all the negative reviews. Not sure what all the negative reviews are about as I found the receptionist and Dr. Cote to be very friendly and personable. The afternoon phone interview was about 45min late, which I assume was the result appointments progressively going over their allotted time...nothing new for doctor appointments. Due to Covid I had to send pictures of the issue and the initial assessment was done over the phone. Dr. Cote knew what the issue was and gave a couple of self administered treatment options, but also offered to see me in person if I felt that would be needed afterwards. I did the self administered option which worked great and we had a follow up session to be sure all was okay.
I always find that one gets treated like one treats others. A smile is greeted with a smile.
I have seen other dermatologists before where you wait 3-4 hours to speak with the doctor for 3 minutes and they quick diagnosis and send you away. I have never had to wait for my appointment with Dr. Cote for more than 15 minutes and Dr. Cote takes the time to care about what you are going through and find out how she can best assist and treat you. She is professional and straight forward and some people may not like that her personality is not "bubbly" and her bed side manner is not always the best... but she is incredibly knowledgeable and I wouldn't trust my care in another dermatologists hands. I drive an hour to see her and i never regret it. I appreciate having her on my team. I have stage 3 malignant melanoma as well as other skin issues and her treatment has been amazing.
When I read the reviews on the Doctor I seriously considered cancelling and finding a new one but I figured I could handle what ever she dished out so I went. I was pleasantly surprised that she was nothing like described in a lot of these reviews. I’ve seen her twice now for skin cancel. She’s polite and competent . She explains things as she goes. She answers all my questions. I feel completely at ease and trust her. I feel like she cares about me and my wellbeing. I didn’t wait long for my appointments and her office staff were also vert friendly.
I have to admit if I had gone on the impression from my first visit a 1 would have been sufficient. Understanding and accepting that Doctors are also human I went back for a second appointment and was pleasantly surprised. Professional and worthwhile. Anyone can have a bad day.
