Rory is great to work with. Honest and supportive, and will push you to sweat hard.

Having had a bad personal training experience in the past I was skeptical of trying it again, but what I was doing on my own just wasn't working. Rory has been excellent! He's motivational, experienced and knows how to get the best results out you. In just 2 short months I am seeing and feeling the results.

My experience with Kinetyx has been nothing short of life-changing. I did a lot of research before I picked this place and I have not looked back since. In the past two things have held me back from my goals. 1) Injury and 2) Not enjoying life. I always said I would rather be fat and happy then skinny and miserable. Here I was able to find the solution to both those problems.

Rory tailored a personal program which allowed me a slow and consistent weight loss along with significant strength gains. This was done without having an extremely tight meal plan. I was given some simple changes, suggestions and guidelines to follow. This made the lifestyle change for me easier and kept me from the frustration of diets. The pressure is off and I feel healthy not hungry. Despite my considerable weight loss I have been also been able to make some drastic strength gains as well. Currently I am lifting nearly double what I did when I started. That is nearly impossible to do with crash diets.

Kinetyx is unique in Barrie. With a master’s degree in Kinesiology Rory is by far the best educated trainer I could find. His science back ground and experience have not only helped my performance but have kept me safe from significant injury which in turn saves me from setbacks. For example once the weighted squats got heavier I started to feel it in my knees. Rory responded by wrapping my knees up once we get to a certain weight the end result was no pain or discomfort. These are the things he is always watching for and adjusting to keep you safe. You don’t get that clinical support from a person who has only taken a weekend personal trainer course.

That said this is also a great place if you wind up injuring yourself. Again Rory knows the body well and easily changes things up based on what ever bumps or bruises I may have had in between the work outs. Things only get better when you take into account the Physiotherapist who also works there. Georgette Mink is a Captain in Canadian Military providing her services to the armed forces as well as being high level athlete. She has been able to help me with various issues I have had and is now actually working with me to improve my biomechanics so I can run easier without the risk of injuries like shin splints. It is a weird thing when you have been running your whole life only to discover you are not doing it right, but you can really feel the difference.

I am aware that there is a massage therapist also working there. I do not have any direct experience with her so I cannot comment too much other than to say they really can offer full body care. There are also other trainers and women’s only classes but again I cannot comment on those as I have not experienced them personally but I hear good things.

Finally I think it should be noted that this is a private facility with multiple training rooms. So you go to classes or book sessions and those are focused on you personally. It is not a drop in place filled with gym rats. The person you are in competition with is yourself not some stranger who has been at this a lot longer then you or someone half your age. You do not have to have a membership and they don’t require you to commit to a long term deal unless you want to. This makes it easy to try out without worrying about cancelling or pushy sales people.

Now that is my experience. Kinetyx does offer group training sessions and stricter diet advice with a strong support group to keep you motivated and accountable but that is not what works for me. That is the advantage here. You simply get what you want.

    I hope that helps.

Rory is a very motivating and knowledgeable trainer. He listens to your goals and helps you achieve them safely. I went to Rory to try and strengthen to help get rid of headaches I was having and it has helped a lot. He makes sure my form is correct and modifies certain exercises to help keep my neck relaxed. He works you at your level. Prepare to leave tired but satisfied! Rory is great!
