(August 29, 2023, 3:41 pm)We spent a morning learning fly fishing basics with Jeff and it was an incredible experience. Jeff is very knowledgeable, clear and friendly. We covered a lot of ground, from working on basic casting skills, to equipment, and then (my favourite part) "reading" water and choosing where to fish. We spent lots of time on the water putting theory to practice. I left feeling ready to explore the sport on my own, with enough tools in my belt to be successful. The time flew by, and I'll be eager to reach out again for a guided fishing trip in the future.

I would definitely recommend Jeff for anyone trying to learn fly fishing or simply if you are looking to get out as catch some fish on the Ottawa river.

(August 1, 2023, 6:40 pm)I had the pleasure of spending two days with Jeff Jackson on the Ottawa River in July 2023. Although I am an experienced fly fisherman, I came away from the trip with a number of pointers that I can use on my home waters. Jeff's "trout-style" of Smallmouth Bass fishing concentrating on transition areas was quite successful and gave me a new way to look at Smallmouth fishing.
Jeff is a very experienced guide and continually puts the boat in the best position for the client to put the fly--even in areas with considerable current.
I would thoroughly recommend Jeff and Algonquin Fly Fishing to anyone. I will be a returning client! -

Jeff was an excellent instructor, and was patient with me as I experienced the inevitable snags and tangles inherent to the learning curve. I walked away from our half-day session more excited than I’ve ever been about fly fishing, armed with knowledge and experience that would have taken me multiple outings and copious curse words to earn independently. Thank you!
