(April 24, 2018, 1:23 pm)I'm so thankful to have met Joanne! She's an exceptional professional and an amazing person to work with as a patient! I've had chronic neck pain for some time and through a few sessions, the pain took a long vacation! She spent time to educate me on how that area of the body works and how particular stretches could help reduce discomfort.
After pulling a back muscle underneath my shoulder, it was obvious my posture was really bad. I was feeling pretty crappy about it as I'm only 33 and felt like 67 some days. She noted that I would benefit from her structural integration therapy sessions and to give it some thought. Next week after, I started the therapy and it was the best decision I ever made. It's an intensive 10-session program that aims to restore your body's natural position. It's an amazing program that gets you familiar with the many muscles in your body and how they work as a whole. There are a lot of "Ah ha!" moments, like when you first realize there was a muscle like that in your leg or when you realize where tension has built up! The techniques can be a little intense for some individuals (I'm thinking hairy dudes--heads up--trim before the visit!), but Joanne is always communicating her plan and gives you lots of heads up. There were a few times when I asked myself why I'm paying for this, but when the session was over--I felt why!
I'm pleased to report that I have an improved range of motion, particularly in bending down and reaching back. I still can't do the splits, and don't want to, but I feel a lot more flexible than before!! In addition to reducing overall discomfort, I've increased my awareness with my posture habits. My before and after photos show a huge improvement in my upper body, also with my hips in much better position and my feet pointing more inwards. I look forward to maintaining these benefits and always look forward to my next appointment with Joanne.
Also, if you're just looking for a relaxing message, try her aromatherapy! It's the most relaxing session you can have without heading to a spa in the mountains!
