2x2 Construction

I hired 2x2 last year to build my laneway home in Toronto. I am beyond happy with the results! The home is immaculate and turned out better than I imagined. Built in the rear of my property facing the laneway, there are unique challenges to managing this type of build but they navigated it wonderfully.

2x2 and Kyle (the main contractor I communicated with) were professional and honest. In an industry where empty promises and cost overruns seem to be the norm, they were reliable and the price I paid was the price they quoted me at the start. I highly recommend them!

We hired 2x2 to build our laneway suite, a double garage and 2 bedroom unit, and it was the best decision. Not only did they start right away, finish quickly despite being affected by covid, (supply chain issues), also completed within budget. Loved working with Kyle who managed the project and addressed issues promptly and working with Lorne who provided excellent prices. They handled all the work with our architect and arranged for all building inspections which assured us that everything was built according to code. They provided us with excellent finishes within budget and we couldn't be happier. We are exploring other construction upgrades and will not hesitate to hire them again!

My wife and I hired Lorne and his team to do a second storey addition on our 100+ year old Toronto home and they were incredible from start to finish. They walked us through the entire process, provided drawings from their architect/engineer, applied for the building permits and dealt with unexpected surprises at no additional cost to us. We met with 4 different contractors before deciding to work with 2x2 Construction based of the professionalism and honesty they portrayed from the onset. Among the 4 quotes we received, theirs was the most detailed and within our budget. The total project took about 4 months from start to finish (including the drawings, permits and construction). We lived in the home while renovations were going on. Lorne & Kyle's team were in an out everyday at 8am - 5pm. Near the end of the project they didn't mind putting in the extra hours to hit their proposed deadline. With the new addition, our kids have more room to play, we have an extra bathroom and our master bathroom is more than double the size. We went from an old claw tub to a 6 jet jacuzzi, a standing shower, toilet and boudet. We love the work that 2x2 did and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an addition.

We are very happy with how everything went with our second story addition. From start to finish we felt like we were in great hands with 2x2; they are an incredibly professional team, as were all their trades. 2x2 was in constant contact with us at each step of the renovation, so we always felt like we were in the loop. The project came in close to budget and any changes were clearly communicated beforehand, leaving no surprises for the end. Kyle, our project manager, was a breeze to deal with and constantly answered any questions we had with patience and clarity. As to be expected when working with 100 year old home, we did hit a few bumps in the road, but they were resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. We really appreciate all the hard work and have already recommended 2x2 to a number of folks in our neighbourhood who are looking to do the same thing. We can't say enough positive things about 2x2. It truly was a great experience!

I have remodelled several homes in my lifetime and dealt with many contractors but this group of men are truly gentleman, do immaculate and perfect work at a fair price!
They do what they say they’re going to do when they say they’re going to do it and I had no issues and no problems for the first time ever!
