(March 25, 2021, 7:15 am)I had never had to make an insurance claim for anything prior to December 2020, when my beloved horse received a puncture wound to his hoof, which got infected. Everything happened so fast, but HEP took care of me from the first call, particularly my adjuster, Rachel, with Claims Pro. I had lots of questions about what was covered and how things should proceed, and Rachel was always patient and timely in her responses over phone and email. I was distraught most of the time, so I really appreciated her kindness and thoroughness.
Sadly, my horse's wound had infected multiple sensitive structures in the hoof, which was determined with diagnostics that were covered by my policy, both at my local vet and a specialist surgical vet. The surgery to address this would have been painful and had a poor prognosis for my horse due to his age and draft size, so although a good portion of it would have been covered by my policy, it was recommended he was euthanized. If I didn't have the insurance, I would not have been able to afford the further diagnostics at the specialist vet and he would have been euthanized regardless, but I would have spent a lifetime wondering if the surgery could have saved him.
My claim was processed and paid four days after I submitted it, which was much faster than anticipated. Thank you, HEP, for making one of the worst experiences of my life as bearable as possible. -
