The Original Butlers Barracks were constructed in 1778 down by the Niagara Rivers West side. Once Ft George was completed, the Barracks were taken down. The new Butlers Barracks were not built, till 1818. The numerous buildings on site, where once surrounded by a Wooden Palisade. This site has been in use for our Military, right up to the 1960's. Lt Col. John Butler, commanded the Butler Rangers during the American Revolutionary War. (1775-1783) He did use the Original Barracks as his winter Quarters then. The present site was named in his Honour. Definitely worth a look, if you're down in the Niagara-on-the-Lake area. 👍👍

One of the best trails. Great for walks, runs, biking and rollerblading. Lots of history in the trails and the grounds. Also used as a concert venue and polo matches. The scenery is breathtaking. The extra breeze by the lake is refreshing. The trail includes a sneak peak at the Shaw Festival, Fort George, the parkway, Two Sisters Winery.
