I have been going to this clinic for the last 27 years, since I was 5 years old. Glendale Medical Clinic has always been a VERY busy place. The practice only has one doctor, Dr. Charania. Rehka is the receptionist and is a nurse; she handles bloodwork and manages the entire office. While she can be curt, she's always juggling multiple things, patients, bloodwork, calls, vendors, and the doctor himself. This is a clinic where you CAN get a same-day appointment. They don't book months in advance, so if you have the flu today, you can see Dr. C TODAY, if not tomorrow. This is a RARE thing in this industry!
NOTE: there are yearly BLOCK fees you have to pay here. You can't just not pay the fees and expect usual services to be free.
Dr. C is not a doctor for everyone. If you want someone who's going to coddle you, sugarcoat your results and pretend nothing's wrong, go elsewhere. If you want a doctor that's going to carefully examine all aspects of the situation, including you and your body, then he's the right person to go to. He's very matter of fact and does have some strong opinions regarding diet and lifestyle, but that's to be expected with a doctor.
The best example I can give of how wonderful a doctor he is is an experience that my own father had. He went in to see Dr. C, complaining of being tired, feeling generally unwell and having no energy. Dr. C is very thorough in his examinations and upon examining my dad's hands, he immediately sent him to emergency. Why? Because my dad's fingernails had turned grey, a sign of internal bleeding. My dad lost more than half the blood in his body - if Dr. C hadn't caught it, I don't know if my dad would still be here.
When i was plagued with a mystery illness, Dr C continued to test for every single thing under the sun until we had an answer. He's thorough - he will sit and stare at you and it may feel uncomfortable sitting in silence. But he's looking at your eyes, your skin, your lips, your fingers... he examines you properly and thoroughly before coming to a conclusion. And he doesn't just throw medication at a problem, in fact, he'll happily send me home with instructions for chicken noodle soup and rest if antibiotics aren't really truly necessary.
Dr. C is a fantastic doctor that's helped my family members through lots of illnesses over the last quarter century. I will continue to see him until he decides to retire (and that will be a sad day!).
The receptionist can be difficult but the doctor is very caring. That being said, if you are looking for free notes, call-ins, go somewhere else. Doctor's get paid surprisingly little from the government and it doesn't matter whether you spend 1 minute or 20 minutes with a patient, you get the same money. What you get from your money paid out for fees here is well worth the extra time and effort that this doctor takes in my opinion.
