Owner/operator and trainers very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Class members received handouts prior to class and homework to assist to learn techniques taught during class. Very enjoyable and informative.

The methods used at Paus and Train are a really good fit for my dog and I. It doesn't involve choke chains or prong collars, and there are no angry words, stares and there is no yelling. Instead, it encourages positive behaviour by rewarding your dog's good choice and helping them understand that listening to you and following your direction is the most rewarding thing they can do.
I adopted a very nervous girl, and it was very hard to tell if she had any training before. She was very shy, very timid and prone to cowering when she felt out of sorts. But sometimes she'd bark and lunge at the things that frightened her. Needless to say, our first few weeks were quite stressful for both of us.
Six months later, and I am writing this with a very different dog playing happily in the living room. I saw improvements in BOTH our attitudes after Dog Manners #1-even when we had the challenge of having to move our classes online due to the pandemic. By the end of the session, both my dog and I were on new ground and both of us were much happier. She knew how to listen, and I could understand her much better.
We decided to do Dog Manners #2 (again, all online), and I was very happy with how the classes were handled. I had my doubts at first, but being able to post videos and get feedback in between classes was a huge help. And I think my dog enjoyed learning so much that we decided to continue our lessons and take Rally Obedience. By the time that session ended, I felt like my girl and I were a solid team.
I know this is a lengthy post, but I really feel the training method used, combined with our instructor's (Kim) insights, tips and feedback really worked. I feel like I have the tools to help my dog listen and work through some of the things that are still a little scary for her. But most importantly, I think it's given my dog a chance to believe in herself a little more, and understand that the world isn't such a frightening place.
