I was ready to sign up after the first 15 minutes! James and the rest of the team were very welcoming and made my introduction into the GJJ lifestyle a very pleasant experience. This place is exactly what I had been looking for. A real Gracie Jiu Jitsu Training Center that is focused on the self-defence component of the martial art with a direct lineage to the Gracie family. The lead instructor James is trained and certified by Rener and Ryron Gracie. The instructional techniques are standardized, so that the lessons taught on the Gracie University videos are done in the exact same fashion by James at our training center. The training atmosphere is built on respect and fosters an enjoyable learning environment without any egos or tough guys wanting to prove themselves to new members. I was really excited to hear that there was finally a certified Gracie Jiu Jitsu Training Center in Ottawa that offered the Combatives program. I did not regret my decision to join and I’ve been enjoying the experience ever since. It’s been a great journey so far and my only regret is that I didn’t join sooner. If you have been thinking about trying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, this is the perfect place to start…you will actually learn Jiu Jitsu on your very first night! Also, if you are a security or law enforcement professional, the combatives program is something that you need to include in your toolbox.

Rener Gracie and Ryron Gracie modern methods of teaching are great and very motivating for beginners.
They are extremely distinct from what I experienced in my hometown, Rio de Janeiro.
At first, I was skeptical but now after 5 months I can see how effective it is.
