Sugar Belle Bake Shoppe

June 2019 Update: Sadly her shop is no more, but her baking is living on at Mrs. McGarrigle's in the village. The treats are still great, but her jalapeño/cheese bread is amazing! Very similar to Art Is In Bakery in Ottawa. Top Shelf!

The fresh apple turnovers are ridiculously great, as is the blueberry cheesecake, fresh chocolate chip cookies and the grilled cheese! Best part about this little bakery though is the woman who owns it. Kim is so relaxed and always in a friendly positive mood. One thing I don’t understand though is how she stays so skinny with so many delicious things to eat?

I’ve made this my hub and count on it as my favorite spot in the little village.

This is a neat little shop. Come in for some delicious items. Very friendly people. Beautiful village too.

Very friendly service and adorable decorations! I had the cream puff (2.55) and iced coffee (mid $2 range) and they were both great. The coffee is from equator, so you know it’s already good. I loved the cream puff but just thought that it was a little too small for 2.55. The presentation for the iced coffee has room for better presentation as well, but it’s the taste that matters the most!
Highly recommend this place.

This little place has the most fantastic food even for vegans and vegetarians. The owners are so nice and make you feel right at home.

Often when I visit a little bakery, there might be one thing that stands out, but everything I had here was perfect and delicious. I had a cranberry scone and shared a cherry turnover and a cinnamon bun with my friend. The cranberry scone had scrumptious crunchy bits and wasn't too sweet. In fact, everything I had wasn't too sweet. Just the perfect amount of sweetness. The cherry turnover had perfect pastry: not oily or heavy and light and flaky. The filling wasn't cloying. Just amazing. And the cinnamon bun was soft, cinnamon-y and just the way a cinnamon bun should be. I will be visiting Sugar Belle Bake Shoppe on my next visit to Merrickville, that's for certain!
