Hawk Lake Log Chute

Beautiful place. This was the first time I saw a log chute and it was kind of interesting. The log have the entire area a different vibe.

Hawk Lake Log Chute - What a hidden gem!

I only know about this special place from the owners from The Pines on Boshkung Cottage (where we stayed). If it wasn't for their recommendation, I wouldn't know about this.

The drive in the snow to get here was such an incredible experience. The water flowing downstream to the river is literally beside this special road. It feels like "Walking into Winter Wonderland".

There are a parking lot nearby to this Hawk Lake Log Chute.

These types of man-made chutes were built back in the days to carry logs over rough rivers and flow to the sawmill located downstream.

Back in the late 1800s, there were thousands of these log chutes everywhere around the province. But many of these were all gone now. So, this Hawk Lake Log Chute is one rare Historic chute that is still standing and running.

I highly recommend you to come and enjoy the view, the sound of the water flowing thru the chute.

The Hawk Lake Log Chute is an amazing piece of history and terrific tourist attraction. The entire drive on the way is amazing, Through Halliburton is a spectacular sight and then entering the Hawk Lake area is so beautiful. Water views from the main roads. The entire drive into Hawk Lake winding roads amazing and the more great sights. Perfect for anyone interested in the history of the lands. You can walk across the Log Chute on a viewing platform and view both sides. There's a trail that goes up through the wooded area above the water. Also picnic tables placed around the Log Chute area.

I'm giving this 4 stars, more for the area than the actual log chute. The chute is broken, however the history of it is quite interesting. The drive in and all the trails around, make this place better, worth the trip.

Really cool outdoor spot! You park 200m before you get there and walk up the road. There is a nice picnic area for you to sit and eat lunch by the chute. There are two trails near the chute the one on the road side, leisure loop, and the one one the chute side. The one on the chute side is a more challenging hike with lots of elevation and decent. A moderate 5 km hike we finished in two hours with the stops for the views/ look outs. However..... this is not a loop. And when you get to the end for the 5 km either you walk back the way you came, pack your lunch, or you have to walk all the way back on the road to where your car is.... 12 km later. Make sure you look at the trail maps before you start.
