  Yeah, I know. Who on earth gives 5 stars for a dental place eh! Well, if you need to have a wisdom tooth pulled, and felt no pain throughout the whole procedure, then that's what the first 3 stars are for. The 4th star is for great staff who prep you for the procedure, and for the bright, clean, and comfortable office. The 5th star is for the competence you get from a professional. They took care of business for me, so that I can take care of business. Just like he said, the laughing gas makes you feel like you are floating in water, a little like the way you feel when waking up from a long sleep. And, yes, you feel like you have lost time. So, afterwards, I checked the time, and guess what - it was a long time! double time in fact! You do feel the intensity of the gas at times too -like you are about to drown - for a split second, then you come right back. The mask feels like no air is flowing and you are about to suffocate. Just breath deeper, and you will smell a hint of mint, breath out through your mouth (voila, you are breathing, not suffocating, or dying). The anesthetic just numbs the whole area. You feel what they call pressure, but no pain at all. At times, when they use the drill, you can smell the fumes. My son had dental work done, and I must say I feel bad for him, now that I have had a tooth extracted. He wouldn't know how to react like an adult. But, what you need to remember is, that you have control of your body. You can move your fingers if you want to, you are fully conscious throughout, and aware of the surrounding, and what is being done. Take comfort in knowing that, because this is the key to how to face the whole thing. I think some people feel panicky, because they feel claustrophobic. But, if you know that you have control of your body, then this is how you can learn to "relax" and let them take care of things. I think it's good that they tell you what will happen every step of the way, and this is not meant to scare you. You then can anticipate it (i.e. it happened just like they said it), and know that it will be okay and feel okay (as in no pain, no loss of consciousness), and not feel like you have to run. Oh, talking about running, you should definitely empty your bladder before going :)
