  A wonderful and cozy house, beautiful rooms with the most amazing view on the lake and the forests around it.
  The two young hosts are so nice and eager to make everybody to feel at home, that you do not have another chance, than to fully enjoy your stay, the hotel and all the accommodations, like coffee, tea, relax couches and have I yet mentioned the view on the surrounding nature?!
  We will surely come back to this beautiful house and stay again to relax and enjoy.

  We arrived very late one foggy July night (after 11pm) having driven 12 hours from Portland. We were greeted by the owner who was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Noticing we were clearly beat he deferred check-in until morning. Our room was quaint, very clean and fresh. Come morning we were treated to the spectacular views of Big Lake, the hills and rocks (it is Nova Scotia after all). We enjoyed lovely variety of (mostly) healthy breakfast choices. Our plan of four days of lighthouse exploration and photography was immediately deferred by a flat tire. The owner's brother took me and the tire across the county to get repaired. We learned of his experiences as an executive chef who was spending the summer upgrading his brother's menu at the hotel. As an act of gratitude my girlfriend and I stopped at a local lobster house and picked up a pile of lobsters, oysters,fresh veggies and the chef prepared the most amazing feast for us and his family. The turned a distraction into a life long memory. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Big Lake Lodge, would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent experience and we will most definitely return to Nova Scotia and include this excellent family-owned and operated hotel. Note: If you are looking for a Radison/Hilton-like resort, this is not your place. If, however, you are looking for a "step up" fro a "bed and breakfast", that is fresh, exceptionally clean and creative, then this is the place for you...unlike any other. Best of all, the owners are hands-on and fascinating.

  We arrived late at night just past closing time, and the chef said he would be glad to make us dinner! It was delicious!! Then he even treated us to dessert. Incredible customer service!!! Big thanks!!
