I stayed here for one week with my partner and child and we had a fantastic time. The location is perfect for walking to the nearby Mermaid beach (~5-10 min walk), where you can swim or catch the sun setting over Desolation Sound and so many beautiful mountains. Many other unique and wonderful beaches can be reached with a slightly longer walk, or by bike. The view from the kitchen and dining area is exquisite, facing south down the Georgia Straight towards the Sunshine Coast, Texada Island and Vancouver Island. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment, utensils etc. We were able to borrow basic beach equipment like snorkeling goggles, beach umbrellas etc. Lois is an amazing host and made us feel right at home. She took us out on her boat, we went fishing, and pulled up (full) prawn traps. Lois' son Harry is an expert in collecting shellfish from the beach, and gladly shared both his knowledge and his haul of clams with us. This was a magical trip which we will repeat asap!

We absolutely adored our stay here. Our hosts were warm, helpful, and put a lot of care into making our experience great. The tent was spacious and exactly as advertised. I loved the treelined walkway, the clean and cute bathroom with the composting toilet, and of course... that kitchen with the view! Absolutely divine. To the people who have left less than positive reviews: you know you booked a canvas tent on an off grid island, right? Stay at the best western next time if that's the kind of experience you're after. If you're looking for a rustic and comfortable stay in a great location with locals who genuinely care about your experience: book here! Thank you for providing dog-friendly, affordable, and cozy accommodation, Lois and friends :)

We had a Fantastic time staying at the Orca! Lois the host is an incredible women and was very accommodating during our stay. The tents and beds were very comfortable and the location on the island is perfect! So close to mermaid beach and other beautiful beaches on the island! This is the true wild west coast experience! Awesome tiki bar and incredible cliff side views! We will definitely be back! Big thank you to Harry and Steph for all the island advice and good laughs!

Really loved our stay! Large tent cools down for a good sleep in a clean, comfy bed. Communal kitchen and bathroom were always clean. Was spoiled with hosts doing the dishes, which insures cleanliness. Lois and her staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful ocean views from the kitchen, eating area and tiki bar! It was a short walk to Mermaid beach.

Have stayed two times and already planning my next trip back to The Orca. The host Lois and son Harry are AMAZINGLY accommodating, friendly, helpful with navigating the island and genuinely go out of their way to make the stay comfortable.

The property is so gorgeous, the glamping tents are so fun and cosy, I especially love the solar lights and comfortable beds for the BEST sleeps ever’

Cant wait to visit again!
