Freedom Flight School

Amazing experience! Freedom Flight School wasn't a traditional school experience, it was so much better. The two instructors, Dave & Don are awesome guys who seem to be doing this mostly for their love of flying. The schedule is flexible, the atmosphere amazing and the instruction is top-notch. Everything is very low-key and low pressure, with the ability to learn in your schedule for a fixed price. They have no rush to get you out the door (or off the launch!) and believe that you're not ready to launch (or graduate) until you feel you're ready. Their feedback is positive and encouraging and they know Paragliding like nobody else.

I decided to do my P1 & P2 in one long sprint, spending approximately 15 days with them over a 20 day period. Despite some setbacks (mainly me losing my nerve) they were always there for support, patient and understanding. I completed my training, was certified and left with a feeling that I was well prepared for the sport. Other students were doing classes one to two days a week or in 5 day blocks and it was all fluid and flexible.

They've built a great culture and in excited to go back and fly with these guys again. A++, would fly again!

I did my p2 course with don/Dave excellent teaching styles,very flexible schedule, got along great with them and both of them are very knowledgeable when it comes to paragliding. I would diffantly recommend going with them for training they don't try to push over priced used equipment on you and they sell brand new equipment at a discount to students to help them get the safest and proper gear, but they are also happy to help you find used equipment that is suitable and safe to use coming out of course. your first couple flights generally are with there paraglider tow unit then after that the rest of your high flights are off Cooper's launch. Closer to the end of the p2 course they even spend some time helping you catch your first thermals. I plan on going back to them when I go for my P3 in the future.

I just completed my P2 course with Dave and Don and I don't think it could have gone any better. These guys are great instructors with tons of experience between them and they really know how to make the learning fun.

Camping at the flight park while in the course meant constant learning and great conversations. I reccomend Freedom Flight School to anyone looking to learn to paraglide or hang glide, as well as anyone looking for a tandem flight experience

Absolutely incredible school and flying community! I've been wanting to learn to fly for awhile and I'm so glad I took my P1 & P2 with Dave and Don from Freedom Flight School. They are very safety conscious, but also fun guys to hang around with. The instruction was excellent and takes beginner pilots through progressive steps before getting newbies flying on their own. Through a mix on the ground practice and in class tutorials I felt confident when I took my first flight.

I decided to immerse myself in the sport and spent 10 days at the flight school to live and breathe the sport. I drove the 9 hours from Edmonton to do so and I am so happy I came to Freedom Flight School. Don and Dave are really great people and I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with them around the camp fire after training. I honestly feel like I have new friends as a result. Dave even lent me his truck to go get groceries.

I seriously can't say enough great things about this school and the flying community in Lumby. So many friendly and interesting people there all addicted and passionate about paragliding and hang gliding. They all supported the learning process and consideration for safety. You can stay and camp at the school or you can come and go and train when you want. The instructors are flexible. If you're looking for a bit of a vacation while you learn, I'd recommend camping and immersing yourself. The community is good for the soul. The people, the pilots lounge, the open air shower, the night time hangouts around the campfire, and the beautiful valley are all a great part of the experience.

Randy, the owner of the flight park where the school is located, is a great person as well. He led some great guitar and singing sessions around the campfire at night and really made me feel like I was welcome there. He's really fostered the sport in the area since the 1970s and I highly respect what he's done.

I was genuinely sad to leave this place and these people, but I am so excited to be a paraglider and to have learned from such a great school. I'll be back soon for more training and to get Dave or Don to take my girlfriend for a tandem ride.

I got my PG2 with Freedom Flight last July, I had time constraints and they suited well to my needs. My partner did her first tandem with them and had an amazing time. A great place to fly!
