Silvia is amazing! She manages our rottweiler very well when most are afraid and not even willing to take a big dog like ours. She is also flexible with hours and availability. My husband got very sick over a trip we went to and ended up needing to stay in the hospital for some time. She extended our dogs stay no problem and took such good care of our girl. It is enough I had to worry about my husbands health, I am so greatful I didn't have to worry about our dogs care. I would not trust our dog with anyone else!

I’m writing by my own experience and not going by what other people have “read” or “heard” about this place.

I have a rescued rottie, Bucky, who is super sweet with our family, but unfortunately was never properly trained and has a lot of issues in social situations and behaviour with strangers.

We adopted him when he was less than 18 months old and can be extremely aggressive; in that he barks and lunges at people while on leash, and although he has never hurt anyone, this scares everybody and I certainly did not want to take that chance.

This is certainly not what I want in my rottweiler, nor did I want to further the stigma of rottie behaviour, therefore I sought professional help.

We sought the opinion of two separate trainers before we could decide our next step. They both agreed that he was mostly likely improperly trained as a guard dog and/or protection dog, and certainly not treated as a family companion, therefore he didn’t know when it is acceptable to be in protections mode or not.

In addition, I’ve also been wanting to go to out of town to see family we haven’t seen in over a decade. Unfortunately I was unsure of any place that would take Bucky for boarding and training, and fortunately Sylvia at BC Canine was recommended for both!

I was so relieved, as this meant I could take my boys to finally meet their great grandma, and I could have Bucky looked after at the same time.

He spent 12 days here, and I did not see any issues with the facility that others have posted about.

Sure, Bucky came back dirty from being in the outside play area, but this was just ordinary dirt from play, certainly not from being neglected by sitting in his own feces or urine!

Sylvia did a bit of training, but this time it was mainly boarding, since it was his first time away from us. He has enough separation anxiety issues as it was, I didn’t want him to feel overwhelmed and be in training the whole time I was gone.

I believe he quite enjoyed his time here, and apparently did not show aggressiveness once while he was there, which was a big relief.

I don’t believe this place is run with profit in mind, and is just a no frills place for your canine family member to stay while getting their exercise and additional training (if you want it) They seem comfortable and well taken care of.

Yes there are other places that look more luxurious, and may offer other services, but I have to be realistic; dogs don’t know the difference between a filet mignon or chuck steak. I don’t think they really care if the place they stay at has cutesy decorations or fancy gimmicks.

As long as the place is clean and he’s well taken care of and happy; that’s good enough for me and my pup!

The prices were very reasonable, and Sylvia was great with him. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend anyone to board and or train their dog here.

I’ve since brought Bucky back a couple of times for overnight boarding and for additional advice and training sessions.

My final recommendation; with anywhere you take your loved ones, whether a human daycare or doggie daycare/boarding, do your due diligence and thoroughly check a place out for yourself. Make your own judgement and only take the opinions of others as a starting point, this is your own family member and it is up to you to make the final decision whether or not a facility is right for you and your beloved canine companion.

For me, Bucky and I had very positive experiences here.

Awesome place for a dog to be. Sylvia and alycia are true dog lovers that really know whats best for each dog that goes through their door.

Great facility! Our rescued dog went for the two-week training and came back healthy, happy and well-behaved. She no longer pulls on the leash during walks.... Phil did a wonderful job and the one hour training we (the owners) receive as well is really valuable (we are first-time dog owners). Will definitely recommend and send the dog back for boarding. I had seen the heavily publicized story about the poor dog that lost an incredible amount of weight before sending my dog there. There is another side to this story, which will hopefully come out in the media soon... and yes, they did take that dog to the vet.
