(July 18, 2017, 5:49 pm)In search of my Russian/ Doukhobor ancestors (this summer)... I made my way (by car) from North Vancouver to Natasha's Russian Guest House. She greeted me with warmth & a chipper smile.
Natasha graciously upgraded me to the carriage house suite at no charge. Her charming little house & property cusp an amazing backdrop of high grasses & greenery. Her surrounding rustic gardens are a palette of bountiful flowers, herbs & home grown goodies- all within walking distance from the river.
Natasha made endless calls (in Russian) around town on my behalf ...in attempts to connect me with elder family members. She really tried her best. The trip was not wasted; I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Natasha's clean, PEACEFUL, organic home. I didn't find my family here, but I found a friend with a big heart, in Natasha.
As a note; she also offers an adorable little rustic cabin on her property; Hotels and motels cannot replace the homey , safe & convenient feel and experience of Natasha's Russian Guest House.
Ps. Grand Forks is very clean, quiet, scenic - but it is a touch sleepy- VERY laid back; although there seems to be a lot of buzz here with the real estate market. Realtors paradise. ++ I ended up finding more info about my Doukhobor family at the heritage museum in Castlegar.
