Incredible museum to come and learn about the rich culture and heritage of the First Nations populations of the Pacific coast. I highly recommend joining a guided tour if one is going on—it’s free and in about 30 minutes you learn quite a bit! The museum is also very open and honest about how pieces were acquired, and the ongoing debates as to whether or not they should be displayed in public. The outside exhibits—set against a backdrop of mountains and sea—are stunning. Well worth a visit and easily accessible from downtown Vancouver via public transit (which also allows for a lovely walk through the UBC campus).

Literally awesome: I was in awe at the scope and volume of exhibits on display. One large area has dozens and dozens of glass displays filled with countless pieces and numerous drawers to open below with related pieces. We were there for a couple of hours and didn't see everything. Our seven-year-olds didn't even get bored!

Gorgeous venue with exceptionally presented pieces from local and global artists. Kids really appreciate the items that are available for gentle touch. Beyond what is presented in the displays, the drawers are filled with treasures that will keep you captivated for hours.

Been awhile since I have been here and there are renovations underway to stabilize and earthquake proof the facility. Some of the largest totem poles located In the main atrium have been temporarily moved to another part of the museum.

Outside of that there is plenty to see if you have a leaning towards BC first Nations carving, tools and other items. The contemporary gallery can also be interesting depending on what is being shown at the time of year.

Parking is expensive but it is what it is. Be ready to check your backpack and/or large bags in.

Visited on a rainy day. Very beautiful museum. Great free daily tours by knowledgeable guide. Lots of Canadian and international history. Located near the ocean short walk many stairs down to the beach. About a 20 minutes cab ride from downtown Vancouver.
