Back in August 2022, our family of four booked a day hike with John Mellis, we were so impressed with John that we booked two days of hiking with him in August 2023 to lead us on some hikes in the mountains around Invermere and Radium. We can't say enough good things about John, not only is he an excellent and competent guide, he is a fun person to hang out with for the day. Our teenage kids absolutely loved hearing John's interesting and entertaining stories about the various adventures he's had over the many years that he has been helping people discover the amazing things that Canada’s Mountains have to offer.

John was able to effectively gauge our hiking abilities, and chose hikes that would challenge us (but not break us). Having John leading the hike allowed us to simply enjoy the views without worrying about finding the trails or being prepared for emergencies that could possibly arise… John lent us equipment that we didn’t have and simply took good care of us.

I would have absolutely no hesitation to recommend John for any friends who want to see some of the most beautiful places on earth… John knows the best ones!

We have just recently returned from an absolutely amazing climbing trip with Jordan from East Kootenay Mountain Guides. We headed up the NE Ridge of the Bugaboo Spire from the Conrad Kain hut in the Bugaboos. Jordan's superb guiding skills, fun and friendly personality and high level of safety made us feel very comfortable throughout the adventure. We could not recommend them more and can't wait until we can go out again with Jordan!

We have just returned from the experience of a lifetime with Jordy as he guided us on the North East Ridge of Bugaboo Spire. From start to finish he was exemplary, we felt remarkably safe and well cared for throughout. His communication and inertactions were always clear, professional and infomative, and without his expetional abilities as a guide, this trip for us could not have happened. Out of all of the guides that we have come across around the world, Jordy has been the best by far. I cannot recommend East Kootenay Mountain Guides enough, and spending a day (or a week even) with them to experience some of Canada's best big mountain adventures. Thank you Jordy!

In the months ahead of our actual climbing event, Jordan was fantastic in his communication with me. Both to identify what our family previous rock climbing experiences were and clarify what our goals were for our full day session. Throughout all of his emails was evidence of his passion for the sport and his willingness to make it an amazing day for our family. On the day of the event, he quickly won the trust of all members of my family within the first 15 minutes. His attention to detail in learning names, making sure all the equipment fit just right and his ability to balance fun and safety. As someone who already loves the adventures of climbing, I put a lot of trust in Jordan to create an experience for my family that would see them also discover the joy of the sport. He came through big time! Throughout the day he gave them the ability to become confident in their new skills, to challenge those skills and even gave specific instructions to hone those skills. All the while in a safe and positive learning environment. By the end of the day, our family was already putting plans together to continue climbing at our local crag when we get home. Bravo to Jordan for such an amazing family experience!! I would highly recommend Jordan and EKMG for your next climbing adventure. Although your type of adventure might be different than ours, what you are expecting from a guide is the same and EKMG will certainly deliver that.
