Being from Vancouver Island with a fisherman father, I grew up eating fresh West Coast seafood. But let me tell you, my recent experiences with Kootenay Fish Project has blown me away. I'm quite picky when it comes to freshness and KFP exceeded all expectations. I’ve tried the ling cod, halibut, salmon, candied salmon, scallops, and spot prawns and WOW! Everything is always super fresh and never has the strong “fishy” aroma of seafood that has been stored too long. Those of you who haven’t tried BC spot prawns, I highly recommend. There is nothing quite like them! KFP prices are always super reasonable. As I learned from the owner, Michael, his mission is to provide access wild sustainable seafood to communities that have been long in need. Michael also goes above and beyond for his customers with his fish deliveries, and I also love the convenience of being able to buy it in store at the Local. Thank you KFP for your incredible seafood and for all that you do for the Kootenay communities.

I’m very happy with what I got! Kootenay fish project has a nice variety of sustainably sourced sea food at a reasonable price! I’ll definitely be picking up more stuff.

I’ve ordered a few holiday packages from KFP and they arrived on time in Calgary. Mike himself made a beautiful gift box for me with ribbon and the whole nine yards. Working with KFP was fast and easy. Very knowledgeable and punctual company.

WOW, WOW, WOW, this is the freshest seafood I’ve ever eaten!!! No fishy smell at all, smelled like it was just caught out of the ocean!! We had lingcod, spot prawns and crab…AMAZING!!! Michael was very informative and helpful!!! Will definitely be ordering again very soon!!!!! A+

I had never had west coast, wild albacore tuna before buying this, and it was amazing. We made seared tuna Tataki (twice now) and the texture and freshness blew me away. It’s super buttery and delicious. It’s sashimi grade so next I want to make sushi and eat it raw. I’ve been back for all the fish offerings, purchased at The Local in Fernie and I’m so happy to have found a supplier of delicious and wild seafood in the Kootenay’s. Highly recommend all the other fish they bring in too, it tastes as good as if not better than the stuff my family catches!
