Beautiful Setting, Great Cider, Disappointing and Dismissive Customer Service from Owner.

I wanted to preface by saying that the location of this place is serene and absolutely gorgeous. The staff working that day were friendly and the ciders (especially #6) were some of the tastiest ciders I have ever had.

My partner and I purchased a premium growler in support of their business. Unfortunately when we had gotten home, I learned that the growler had leaked the majority of the contents in our trunk and all over our belongings. I had ensured to nestle the growler, so I knew that it wasn’t sliding/rolling around. I reached out to Fossil Beach Farm, thinking that I may have received a growler that leaked. After some correspondence, we were able to troubleshoot that the growler lid was not seated properly.

I reached out to their team again on as I had not heard back following the previous conversations and received the following reply:

“I just found this email in my junk.

I’m sorry but nothing can be done if a grower cap is not installed correctly. I would suggest making sure the seal is seated the next time you use it.

Thanks”

The owner took no responsibility for the growler not being seated during purchase (not exactly cheap either being a $70 premium growler + fill/cider fee + tip). I found their response dismissive and just passing blame onto the customer. Not once was it mentioned during purchase that I needed to ensure that the growler cap was seated.

On an additional note, another person in our party also purchased a premium growler. After we had drank the cider, we noticed there was still the instruction manual INSIDE the growler. I question if the growler was even washed prior to use.

Beautiful location and atmosphere. The guy working at the restaurant shack was not the most personable and the menu was not exactly what I was expecting for "farm fresh meals" we got nachos and salsa...

Beer was great.

Grabbed a meal and a cider while visiting Hornby and had a great time! The salmon and the burger were great. Potatoes and salad were so refreshing and light. My ideal meal. The blackberry cider was crisp and sweet and dry, maybe I’m a cider person now? Beautiful location and being there on a quiet day with our dog made for a relaxing afternoon in the sun.

I’m not typically a cider drinker but heard their BBQ and setting was worth the stop. Did not disappoint. BBQ was great, All the items we tried salmon, beef burgers and cider were fantastic. All the staff were great, friendly and helpful. Love the picnic like atmosphere. Next time will try their glam camping as their tent rentals looked very comfortable.
