His Japanese lessons helped me with my school Japanese classes, and I continued learning Japanese from him even after my school classes had ended. Raffi is committed to helping improve grammar, writing, and speaking in a personalized manner for every student. Raffi is great at teaching, and I would highly recommend him to anyone because he is an adaptable, very compassionate person who will do a great job at helping any student learn.

(February 10, 2021, 6:45 pm)If you want to learn Japanese and need a tutor, Raffi is an incredible option. He is kind, patient, understanding and it is obvious he teaches in an area he is passionate about.
I found Raffi when I was struggling in a mainstream college class. I have an appreciation for learning about culture and language but it is not my strong suite. With Raffi as a tutor, he helped to calm my nerves and prepare me for my class.
Raffi is a native English speaker and this is something I sought when looking for a tutor. I wanted someone who knew the mistakes I was making because they had made the same mistakes themselves. Raffi was able to clearly and effectively explain my mistakes and how I could improve. His background education in linguistics and Asian studies is obvious as he focuses a lot of time on proper pronunciation and uses stories of his own errors to provide context to the learning.
Overall, my time spent with Raffi paid off. I learned a tremendous amount about Japanese history, culture, and the language. I highly recommend Raffi to anyone seeking to learn Japanese. -

Humble, generous, informative, and a clear speaker, Raffi conveys the Japanese language in a concise and incredibly informative manner. He has a well rounded understanding of the culture, which makes the language engaging and fun to learn. I have absolutely learned and retained more Japanese under the tutelage of Raffi, than in a classroom setting. You always leave a lesson learning something new and interesting!
