The Cottages On Salt Spring Island

The location and the suite itself were great, however the kitchen, which was one of the selling features, was poorly equipped to say the least. In a suite that could sleep 6, there were 3 of each utensil, except knives, the largest pot was barely big enough for 1 1/2 cups of rice and the other essentials like a strainer and a spatula were absent.

Though the bedding was a decent quality the beds are due to be tightened up and the mattresses replaced. The springs have sprung and every time you move the bed creeks. This combination led to a less than peaceful nights sleep. This place could be exceptional if only there was some time, a little effort, and a small investment made to update the places and ensure they were properly stocked.

The bright note was that the sustainable, locally sourced toiletries, smelled great and my skin seemed to like them. Just would have been nice if they fully refilled the dispensers before our arrival.

Booked at the last minute just before the long weekend and had a great time here. Rustic feel and modern. Although the cabin was far away from the water it was close to the basketball court (which needs repair). Friendly staff. All and all a great place to stay on SSI.

We love The Cottages! This was our second year and we hope to make it a yearly tradition. My only issue was the cleaning. The first year the cottage was spotless but this year the floor was dirty, the high chair had dried food all over it, we found a pill on the ground and the pots and pans were oily. We ended up sweeping the floor ourselves and sanitizing everything. I hope to return next year because the property is beautiful but I would hope the cleaning would improve.

Stayed in cottage 51 with a lakeview. 3 adults, an infant, a 2 year old and a 6 year old. Rustic on the outside, but modern on the inside. VERY CLEAN. Clean enough for the kids to roll on the floor. Beautiful surroundings. Staff was very responsive and helpful. Pricey because we booked a long weekend, but would definitely stay here again :)

Decent cabins in great location. The only negative is the cleanliness. The floors were SO dirty, our feet would be so dirty after walking barefoot on the floors. The decks weren't cleaned, there were cobwebs all over the metal railings and all over the floor. It just didn't feel maintened well. Not enough dish towels and linens.We so got an email a day into our stay saying our checkout time was changed from 11 to 10 am. And our original cabin we booked, a 3 bedroom had electrical issues so we were given a 2 bedroom duplex and given one night free. Overall our experience was good. It has everything you need and none of these things were truly enough to have any impact on our time. It was a lovely location. We are on the fence about whether we'd come back.
