(December 7, 2019, 1:15 pm)Access to the park coming in from the east end of cowichan lk and the south road was excellent. I returned to cowichan lk on the north rd and it was fine as well.The road is suitable for car access. A 4x4 or suv is not necessary although I was in a 4x4. The road from the main road down to the river was good for the 1st 2/3rd but flooded for the last 500ft.
My visit was in mid November and the weather at that time was still good. Pretty wet but the forest is beautiful at that time with dripping moss and a carpet of fallen leaves. Bonus. You will most likely have the place to yourself inflate fall, as well. For those considering launching a boat at this launch site, you will need a vehicle with high clearance to get to the water down that last 500 ft. -

(July 14, 2019, 1:30 am)Good luck finding this park. There are no signs leading you to it. Coming from Cowichan Lake, if you follow the signs to "Nitinat", it'll take you to Nitinat Lake. Several locals didn't know exactly where this park was. I managed to locate the more southern park of the two. The entrance is right after a longer bridge over the Nitinat River. There is nobody managing the site. Beer cans and other garbage on the ground. The river itself is still nice, though.
