Val is the first and only travel agent I will work with! I didn’t know traveling could be so easy! From the moment we connected Val’s customer service, professionalism, and attention to detail was above and beyond. Everything from choosing the destination, booking the flights, to even excursions was quick and painless. When there was a last minute gate change and flight delay with WestJet Val was on the ball and immediately let us know and helped us navigate that change leaving our entire trip stress and worry free, how it should be! Val and Wanderlust Getaway is now my go to for any of my travel needs!

Val is so awesome. We've used her a few times and when things go sideways, just a message, and things get fixed. She's fast and efficient, and truly wants you to have a great holiday. She can do a little, as simple as flights, or a extremely detailed holiday that includes dinner reservations, private transfers, and welcome gifts. I recommend her to everyone!

100 percent recommend Val, she has made our travel experience memorable and stress free! Val surprised us with a couple additional to our suite, we will definitely be booking through her again.

Val was extremely helpful with getting us a good deal for Planet Hollywood Cancun. We were able to get Star Class + Adult Zone which was much better than the deals we were finding on our own. The resort was great and we enjoyed all the amenities and restaurants. I would highly recommend getting Star Class because you get special treatment and reservation privileges at the restaurants. Otherwise you will be waiting 1+ hours for dinner. Can’t wait to book with Wanderlust again for our next vacation!!

We LOVED Huatulco! You could tell its closer to the Equator; I didn't get a lot of tan as I spent most of my time in the shade trying to avoid the sun! That was not a problem though; would rather spend my time looking for shade than trying to get warm!

The resort itself, Secrets, was fantastic. The rooms are in three separate buildings, all built into the side of a hill, all facing the ocean, so they all have the same stunning view. The restaurants are mostly grouped together in a central location; the pools are all arranged in a line between the resort and the ocean. Some are quieter than others; the larger one seemed to have more of a party atmosphere. We stayed mostly at the smaller ones, farther away from the noise; there were lots of lounge chairs around the pools, and most had umbrellas. Our favourite spot was next to some palm trees, creating even more shade and less need to be moving the umbrella. The drinks flowed freely and we had fantastic service!

We tried out most restaurants but our favourites were Bordeau (French) and Castaways. The food was great and service was better! At the buffet where we went for breakfast and lunch, the girl at the door remembered us so well that we didn't even have to give her our name and room number. I thought that was amazing considering how many people she would see in a day!

The beach is quite steep, but the view is phenomenal! The sand was quite course, but aqua shoes helped with that. Arnold went for a walk along the beach every day, but I found the incline too hard to take. I waited in a lounge chair with a good book. He saw lots of turtle tracks where the mamas came up to the beach to lay their eggs at nights; one evening at sunset he watched them release the baby turtles into the ocean. He got some wonderful photos and videos!

We went on an excursion to a Coffee Plantation. On the way we had to walk through a peaceful protest where the locals were protesting because they had been promised land for a high school but had not received it yet. The bus picked us up from 4 different hotels, drove us as far as the protest and then we had to walk across (one guide at the front one at the back); the guides had parked the smaller vans on the other side earlier that morning so we continued on our way. The guides were very knowledgeable at the Plantation and we learned a lot about growing and processing coffee. The coffee was delicious; we bought two pounds of beans to bring home.

We also went on an ATV excursion; that was fun, although they were not two seaters and we had to ride double (I can't drive a quad). My seat consisted of a towel folded into several layers, placed over the bars on the back of the quad. That was pretty hard on the butt! At the halfway point, I refolded the towel to get a few more layers and that was a little better. Even with the discomfort, it was still fun!

We wanted to go on a Dolphin and Whale Watch tour, but to start with there were not enough people interested, then when they did get enough, one of the couples got sick and had to cancel. That was a disappointment.

They hung a Happy Anniversary banner on our door the first day or so, and we got pampered the whole time we were there with rose petals or other flowers arranged on the bed most days. They really put a lot of effort into making our stay one to remember!

I told Arnold towards the end of our vacation that this is the first time I was ready to go home and phone Val and tell her to book us for next year. All-in-all, it was a fantastic vacation.
