My family member had a serious unexpected situation that required the services of a criminal defence lawyer. The situation of domestic charges is very common among Albertan's due to certain laws instituted for police to charge if any domestic call is made. When families call police for help when dysfunction is happening in the home, they often instead are surprised with life and home altering mandates from the police, rather than getting the help they thought. DON'T get me wrong, IF YOU ARE IN DANGER AT HOME CALL THE POLICE!! As an emergency shelter outreach worker, I am very familiar with these situations and they should not be taken lightly. In our world however, there are many criminal lawyers that know this is an area they can rake in the thousands, and take advantage of peoples desperation to be reunited with their family, deal with the charges and begin to rebuild. Not Hugh. My family member immediately felt at rest after a brief initial consultation with him. After getting the go ahead, Hugh initiated legal actions that immediately assisted the situation that no other lawyer even mentioned were a possibility. He showed from day one that he KNOWS the laws and his working parameters very clearly on how he can advocate for his clients. His longstanding relations with Crown Prosecutors, and other partners in the legal system, allow him to streamline his clear communications, as they know his character, integrity and professionalism. His actions to quickly and efficiently work with my family member through the due process and come to resolution was nothing short of really amazing and totally remarkable. There were no feelings of being "taken" financially, but instead so happy to pay the reasonable and well explained fees that were agreed upon. Hugh is there to help people, nothing is more evident. The light in his eyes, and peace and calm he brings with his demeanor, is what my family member needed during this crisis situation. He is a rare find in a hard world, and often dysfunctional, unaffordable legal system. I give the highest recommendation to him and say, LOOK NO FURTHER. Thank you Hugh so very much. You set the record straight and things are better for my family member because of you! You are serving Albertans well! May you reap 100 fold of what you do for others.
