(February 20, 2020, 7:47 pm)A few years ago, an ear infection caused hearing loss in my left ear. I found myself missing out on so many details in conversations, especially in social settings where people would be seated on my left side. This left me feeling embarrassed many times because I wasn't able to follow conversations and sometimes I offended friends because they thought I was ignoring them but I couldn't hear them if they were on my left side.
I saw Claire at H&H optical in Drumheller a few months ago. She did some hearing tests, listened to my story and fitted me with a pair of temporary hearing aids which I could use for a trial period. I was so impressed with this opportunity. Fortunately, I adjusted to wearing them very quickly and was amazed at what I could hear! I didn't realize how much I had been missing out on until I was finally hearing everything, including every vocalization from my toddler grandson.
Needless to say, within a few weeks I was back in Claire's office ordering my hearing aids. She was very patient in teaching me and in fine tuning my hearing aids to my needs.
