Badlands Motel

The room & linens were exceptionally clean, we didn't hear any noise from the surrounding suites at all & had a comfortable stay. Staff was very friendly and housekeeping came each day, which isn't the norm anymore at most places. Great location and we go to Whifs every time we are in Drumheller, so it was a no-brainer. Also pet friendly for a low $15/night fee which was a huge bonus for travelling with our dog.

A few notes to make are that the furnishings are quite dated and the bathroom floor had questionable structural integrity - soft and spongy underneath the laminate. To their credit, I did see staff doing renovations in one of the other empty suites and the restaurant also seems to have had a facelift outside since our last visit in 2022.

Wheelchair accessible:D Older but friendly service and location make up for it. Was perfect for us. Lots of very hot water, a microwave and mini fridge, tasty coffee and coffee machine (in each room I believe. ) Great quality bedding and towels with soap and shampoo, bed was fine. Quiet. Highly recommend you try their log cabin style restaurant on site, tasty food and friendly service. Open 9-2pm. A field out back for your kids or dog to run about and a shady picnic table. A gas station at the corner a few meters away provides you convenience items. Try The Sizzling Kitchen nearby for great Chinese. We happily recommend The Badlands Motel.

I don't want to be too harsh. Everything was perfectly fine except 2 things:
1. Our room (#31) didn't have a real thermostat, which means its temperature was controlled by the thermostat in another room. The temperature climbed to about 35 degrees despite our window begging open. I had to open the front door at 3am to avoid dying of a heat stroke. I suspect the neighbor with the actual thermostat was hot and opened his windows, cooling his thermostat and causing a constant blast of hot air in our room.
2. When constructively mentioning it to the front desk the next morning, the attendant didn't care, saying we should have contacted the front desk (closed at 3am) or started the A/C (which wouldn't have made a dent in the high flow of hot air coming in). She did inform us that our room was controlled by the thermostat in the room next door.
Anyway, terrible night.

The staff is friendly and welcoming. I often travel with pets and this motel is very accommodating. Rooms are clean and well equipped. Breakfast is amazing! I've always had a good stay here. 5 stars
