  After taking in a movie, a Christmas Eve family tradition, not many restaurants were open after 3pm. We found Smitty's open and decided to to dine here. Michaela was our waitress, she was very welcoming, pleasant, smiley and prompt. She didn't miss a beat on our coffee refills, she served our meals within 10 mins, and they all were piping hot. She conversed and joked with us, and despite their doors closing at 5pm, she did not rush us out the door, and she wished us a Merry Christmas as we left the establishment at 5:40pm.

  The weekend before Christmas, I took my 9 year old nephew shopping, dinner at Smitty's and to a movie. At the movies, he realized that he lost $40.00 that was in his pocket. We searched my car for it and then I decided on the off chance to check with Smitty's in case it fell out there. It had and they gave it back to him. What a wonderful experience to see such honesty and it sure made a young man (and his Auntie) very happy. A big Thank you to them. And the food is very good too.

  Our hostess seated us beside the fireplace (gas not electric, thank you!). It was supper time, but my wife and I shared the Ukrainian breakfast with fried perogies and garlic sausage (because a couple should eat garlic TOGETHER) along with our scrambled eggs and toast, it was delicious! I appreciate the all day breakfast option.
  This restaurant is a good example of Smitty's - with a friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, good menu options and tasty dishes served hot and quick. We lingered over our meal, the Sun newspaper provided, and Earl Grey tea a little but because we felt relaxed and comfortable. Coming back again!

  Some of that was my own fault. Being gluten- and dairy-free, I generally plan restaurant visits in advance so I know what to edit. This visit was spur-of-the-moment, and I pressured myself to make a choice quickly. So yam fries. I did not ask what kind they were, though. They were the coated kind. So the usually safe item turned out to not be so. Being not anaphylactic, I ate that anyway. Then it ended up being a very expensive meal anyway. So... The 4 stars is more related to cost.
