  We recently toured Lewis Estates Retirement Residence to help a family member choose a retirement home. Our knowledgeable and gracious tour guide was Penny Phillips, Lifestyle Director. We very much appreciate the time she spent with us to showcase the Residence and answer our questions. Our first impression is that everything was very clean, bright, roomy, and modern. We toured the main floor as well as the third floor.
  
  The main entry area with adjacent library is inviting and would be a treat to come home to after outings catered to via shuttles operated by the Residence. The Edmonton Public Library has a book exchange program and they make weekly visits with informative presentations. Residents have healthy and delicious choices for their daily meals, prepared by an executive chef, and the main floor dining room is very spacious and nicely decorated. A well organised an accessible postal outlet is located on the main floor as well as a large family gathering room that can be booked for events. A spacious theatre, chapel, and pool (with twice weekly aquatic exercise programs) have marvellous design elements for use by the residents. Each suite is generously sized and comes with an outdoor balcony for summer use. Outdoors there are walking paths, a garden for residents to engage, a BBQ patio for summer enjoyment, and a generous green space around the residence. Everyone we met seemed genuinely happy.

  We asked staff to have a bed bar moved for my mother for over two months and "facilities" was never available to do this...whatever that means. I ended up personally flipping her bed and doing it myself. My initial request did not seem like like an unreasonable one to me
